Jordan Ellis had lost three straight meetings to Samir Patel, a streak Patel treated less like a statistic and more like a subscription newsletter. Sunday ended the publication run.
The Waiver Wire Wolves scored 143.8 behind seven double-digit starters and beat Gridiron & Tonic by 22.3. It was decisive, orderly and therefore especially inconvenient for anyone hoping to blame a fluke. Ellis’s quarterback threw four touchdowns. His two starting receivers combined for 48.6. Even the kicker contributed 13, presumably after reading the old messages.
Patel scored 121.5, a respectable total that would have beaten four other teams. Against the Wolves, it purchased a front-row seat to someone else’s closure. His 24-point running back kept the game alive into Sunday night, but the comeback never moved from possible to believable.
The result ties the all-time series at four wins apiece. Patel still owns the recent streak. Ellis owns the latest score, which is the only document anyone will be attaching to messages this week.
Revenge in fantasy football is rarely poetic. Usually it is a push notification followed by twelve adults typing at once. This one managed both.
